Hello!
We’re Velo City!
Velo City promotes positive mental and physical health in Inverness and the Highlands. We want to see more people enjoying and feeling confident cycling.
Want to feel more confident on the bike?
Whether you’re an absolute beginner or someone that is looking to brush up on their cycling skills, our skills sessions can help you. Our experienced instructors know that there can be barriers to cycling, and are used to supporting people in getting on the bike. We run sessions with individuals, small groups and families. These sessions are free and bikes/helmets can be provided. We also have access to e-bikes and adaptive bikes. For more info and to speak to one of our instructors sign-up using the link.
Want to be part of our friendly weekly group ride?
Our weekly group rides explore routes on quiet roads and car free routes. We welcome people of all backgrounds and experience. We can lend you bikes and helmets for the rides, and through our partnership with Cycling UK we can provide adapted cycles (e-bikes, e-trikes, and side-by-side bikes) on some of our routes. We are a diverse bunch and welcome new people to the group rides. If you'd like to join our rides we'll meet you to do a 1:1 assessment so you can meet one of our team first and get answers to any questions you might have.

I love the freedom I feel on a bike, the calm it brings to my mind, the friendliness of being part of a community of cyclists and the connection that cycling gives me to the world around me. I love that it’s free transport that is good for me too. I love the adventures I can have on a bike, from exploring local paths and woods with my kids to riding across mountains in France and Peru. Bikes make my life better.

I love the feeling of freedom that cycling gives you. I find it so addictive! I’ve been a cycle instructor for 2 years working with adults and children. It’s amazing to communicate my passion for cycling.
Rachel
My bike is the ultimate well being tool. Being outside in nature & moving our bodies is proven to improve our physical & mental health. The challenge in exploring new routes, the sense of achievement from pedalling up hills, the connection with other people sharing chat on a group ride- I’m passionate about sharing the joy in all things the bike can bring!
Who funds our projects?
We have partnered with Cycling UK’s Inclusive Cycling Experience to run our Cycle to Health rides, to build confidence, improve road safety and learn about the benefits of active travel. These opportunities are open to all, including those with disabilities, long term health conditions as well as mental, physical and learning impairments.
